Chinese driver fined
Xiaoming pleaded guilty with explanation and said immediately he knocked down Mr Yeboah Nimako, he rushed him to hospital and took care of his medical bills.
Presenting the facts of the case to the court, presided over by Mr Ernest Adjanor, the prosecutor, Inspector Adam Waah, said on September 29, 2012, Xiaoming, who was driving a Ford pick-up from the Adenta Barrier towards Madina, knocked down 75-year-old Nimako, who was crossing the road.
According to the prosecutor, Xiaoming rushed Mr Nimako to the Greater Grace Hospital for treatment.
The prosecutor said the owner of the car, also a Chinese, offered to compensate Mr Nimako but he objected on the grounds that the money was too small.
He said Mr Nimako, therefore, reported the case to the police and Xiaoming was arrested.
The court ordered that Xiaoming pay the fine or face a three-month jail term.
