Businessman hands over development projects to community
A private businessman from Pakyi No 2, Mr Andrews Osei-Bonsu, has handed over some completed projects and items valued at GH¢15,000 to the people of Pakyi No 2 in the Amansie West District in the Ashanti Region.
The philanthropist presented to the community two mechanised boreholes with overhead tanks, 12 street light bulbs, a set of female school vests for students of Atwima Kwanwoma Girls Senior High School, among others.
He constructed a new mechanised borehole with overhead tank and repaired a broken down borehole and upgraded it into a mechanised system.
The provision of the water projects followed many complaints by residents of the town about the difficulties they went through in search of potable water.
The water system would ease the burden of more than 5000 residents of the area who had to queue long hours around the only borehole in the town, which flows slowly.
It would also reduce the burden of students of the Atwima Kwanwoma Presby SHS who spend unending hours looking for water when they should be learning.
At a short ceremony to hand over the projects to the people, Mr Osei-Bonsu urged the residents of the area to develop a good maintenance culture for the items to serve the purpose for which they were provided.
He appealed to residents to develop the culture of tolerance for one another irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliation.
Mr Osei-Bonsu pledged to commence work on the road network in the town to improve the lives of the people in the area.
The Assembly Member for the area, Mr Prince Osei, eulogised the philanthropist for the donation and urged other members of the community to emulate the gesture.
He pledged to put the items to good use to merit the purpose for which they had been provided.
