Anglican Diocese ordains new priests

The Anglican Diocese of Cape Coast has ordained a Reverend Father and two deacons with a call on them to provide selfless leadership to their congregations.

The three, Reverend Enoch Okine and Brothers George Kennedy Koomson and James Andoh-Appiah, have successfully completed their course of study at the St Nicholas Seminary at Cape Coast.

Diocesan Bishop

At a ceremony at the St James Anglican Church at Agona Swedru, the Diocesan Bishop of Cape Coast, Right Reverend Victor Reginald Atta-Baffoe, charged the new priests to serve God and humanity with humility in order to fulfil their calling.

He urged them to put into practice whatever they would teach their members and desist from preaching virtues and practising vice, since such behaviour would undermine their spiritual growth.

He also called on them to be mindful of their calling and lead lives worthy of emulation.

“You are to be ambassadors of Christ and you should put up behaviour that would draw more people to the Lord,” he added.

Sermon

Delivering the sermon, the Dean of the Saint Nicholas Seminary in Cape Coast, Very Reverend Emmanuel Addo, said in the early days, God chose certain individuals to save his people from bondage as well as conquer their enemies.

He explained that God’s glorious accomplishments in those days were done through certain key individuals, stressing that the newly ordained priest had, therefore, been chosen by God to do His work on earth.

He reminded them that they were chosen vessels to be used by God to accomplish his purpose in the diocese, as well as the nation.

‘’Out of the many you were chosen, you should, therefore, go and bear fruits that would honour God,’’ he admonished.
