120 Doctors posted to Korle Bu for housemanship
One hundred and twenty qualified medical doctors have been posted to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) for their housemanship.
According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of KBTH, Mr Mustapha Salifu, most of the doctors who were posted by the Medical and Dental Council (MDC) had already reported for work at the hospital.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic in Accra Monday, he said after the doctors had reported and undergone orientation, they would begin work at the out-patients department (OPD).
The new doctors would replace the 150 house officers who left the hospital after completing their housemanship in April this year that created a gap in the provision of healthcare services at the OPD.

The new doctors formed part of the 199 qualified doctors who were inducted last Friday.
House officers
Mr Salifu explained the duties of house officers to include complementing the work of resident doctors in the hospital, attending to patients at the OPD and preparing patients for surgery.
He indicated that a doctor qualified to be a house officer after satisfying all the requirements of the MDC.
Background
Since Monday, May 4, the KBTH had been turning away patients who called at its OPD as a result of the departure of 150 house officers who had completed their housemanship.
As a result only specialised cases were attended to at the OPD.
