Noisy environment disrupts academic work — Kinbu SHTS Headmaster
The Headmaster of the Kinbu Senior High Technical School (KSHTS), Mr Eddison Osei-Gyamera, has expressed worry about the rate at which the school’s academic work is often disrupted as a result of the noisy environment in which the school is situated.
He said the school is situated in the heart of the business centre in Accra where traders and hawkers make so much noise during the day.
For instance, he said just last week, academic work had to come to a halt to wait for the long trail of demonstrators to pass by the school before teaching could resume.
Mr Osei-Gyamera said this during the school’s annual Speech and Prize-giving Day ceremony held in Accra.

The headmaster called on the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to ensure that the traders do not sell on the pavements in front of the school because they do not only make the place dirty, but they also create so much noise which affects academic work.
In her speech, the Accra Metro Director of Education, Mrs Angela Tena-Mensah, suggested to parents, who are unable to pay their wards’ school fees immediately, to enter into an agreement with the school authorities to enable them to pay the fees in instalments.
“This arrangement would enable students to stay in school to study for their future development”, she added.
Twenty awards were presented to both past and continuing students for their outstanding performances in Mathematics, Science, Economics, Social Studies, Clothing and Textiles, and other subjects.
A senior Aviation Safety Inspector of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Mr Benjamin Owusu, an old boy, who was the Guest Speaker, revealed that ‘a Benjamin Owusu Award’ would be introduced during the next Speech and Prize-giving Day ceremony to further enrich the prizes awarded to students, who distinguish themselves.
