
Methodist Church awards scholarships to 65 students
The Methodist Church Ghana has awarded scholarships for the 2015/2016 academic year to 65 brilliant, needy students in senior high schools in parts of the country.
Made up of 35 boys and 30 girls, the beneficiaries were drawn from 15 dioceses of the church.
The dioceses are Cape Coast, Accra, Kumasi, Winneba, Koforidua, Sunyani, Tarkwa, Akyem-Oda, and Effiduase. The rest are Obuasi, Tema, Wenchi, Somanya, Sefwi Bekwai and Secondi.
Beneficiaries
The beneficiaries of the scheme must be Ghanaians aged 14 to 21 and must be members of the Methodist Church Ghana. Currently, day students are given GH¢300 a year and students in the boarding house receive GH¢615 a year.

Addressing the recipients at a church service at the Wesley Cathedral, Somanya, the Director of the Children’s Ministry of the Methodist Church Ghana, Mrs Janet Naana Thompson, said the church was currently sponsoring 150 students, while 1,000 students had benefited from the scheme
