Ghanata SHS PTA builds bungalows
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Ghanata Senior High School at Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region has constructed two-bedroom semi-detached bungalows for the housemistresses of the school.
The move to house the housemistress on campus is to ensure effective supervision and monitoring of the activities of students.
The Chairman of the Ghanata SHS PTA, Mr Francis Quashie, handed the keys to the bungalows to the Headmaster of the school, Mr Benjamin Apperkon.
Mr Apperkon said the gesture by the PTA would help to improve discipline in the school and academic work.

He recounted some of the projects undertaken by the school’s PTA which included assisting in the drilling of a third borehole for the school; running of the school’s sickbay; assisting in the installation of a generator plant for the school, as well as assisting in providing street lights for the school.
Mr Apperkon thanked all parents for their support in realising the project, but appealed to them not to rest on their oars but assist in putting up more bungalows.
The Staff Representative on the PTA Board, Mr Anthony Kuadey, said the presence of the two mistresses on the compound would help check prep attendance and dining attendances, adding that it would also help in creating conducive teaching and learning environment for the students.
Mr Kuadey, therefore, appealed to the government to ensure that bungalows for staff were included in the design of the new 200 SHSs that would be constructed across the country.
