Dr Cherish Tengabo here with ‘Holy Ground’
For over a decade, a medical doctor and epidemiologist with over 12 years of experience in clinical practice, public health research and healthcare leadership, Dr Cherish Tengabo, has been known for the work she does in the medical field.
Although she has been active in church, serving as a minister and music director, she has always preferred to support others develop their talent and has been laid back when it comes to putting herself out as a performing artiste.
This year, however, she is ready to come out of her shell with the release of her single, “Holy Ground”. Although this is not her first time recording a song, this is her first piece which she wrote and performed herself.
“In the past, I have performed or backed songs written by other ministers but this is the first song I have written, “she told The Mirror in an interview last Wednesday.
In the song, she admonishes Christians to never lose hope as God always comes through in difficult situations. Parts of the lyrics say:
“How many times I felt lost and forgotten
The enemy had me fooled about my future
I was sure there was nothing ahead for me
Then I remembered the man called Moses
The saviour of Israel, wandering the desert”
“…So when I feel like giving up
Having laboured and worked so hard
There is always a word for me
Again I remember the man called Jacob
Just when you feel
Lost and forgotten
GOD will show up and he will say
Just like Moses, you are not forgotten
And Like Jacob YOU ARE BLESSED
He never left you
He never left…”
She explained that her inspiration for the song came from her journey and the numerous examples of how God came through for the people who trusted in him during their difficult moments.
“Personally, even though I was in ministry and fully active in church, I felt I needed to do something more to attract God’s presence and favour. God gave me a revelation that he is with me always and so I shouldn’t worry. I began to reflect on all the examples in the Bible and how God turned things around all of a sudden.
“So, this is to encourage people that, our feelings may get in the way when circumstances seem difficult but God can come through in a twinkle of an eye. It is to admonish Christians to be at peace and have joy always because we are always on the “Holy Ground” where God dwells,” Dr Tengabo added.
The song released yesterday, January 31 is available on all major digital music marketing outlets with a lyrics video on her YouTube Channel, Cherish Tengabo.
Asked if she was ready to move out of her comfort zone and perform in churches and events away from her church, she said now, she was hoping the song would inspire and encourage believers and would consider these performances as she is led by God.
“I still have a very busy schedule in my different roles as a mother with young children, attending to patients, developing management systems, hiring and training different teams at the hospital and my duties as a minister working in different capacities in the church.
“My focus is to build my social media platforms and promote my work to reach more people with the gospel, but when God leads me out of my comfort zone, I will obey,” she added.
