Citi FMs Nana Ama clashes with John Dumelo over UG Vals day visit
Citi FM journalist, Nana Ama Agyemang Asante has sparked a debate on Twitter after questioning the propriety of actor John Dumelo visiting female students of the University of Ghana (UG) in their hostels on Valentines Day.
"You mean no one on your team told you not to do this because it is predatory and gross?," Nana Ama questioned in response to a video of Dumelo interacting with some female students in their rooms on the University of Ghana campus on Valentine's day.
My surprise visit to Legon yesterday was to spend Valentines with all the single ladies on campus. #spreadthelove #legon #Valsday pic.twitter.com/nMtWMt2jV5

Later on Sunday, a female fan appealed to the actor to visit her place of employment but the actor replied: "I will be willing to hug you too...unfortunately some people say hugging single ladies is predatory and gross. I shock".

Nana Ama who describes herself in her Twitter biography as a feminist later clarified the earlier comment in separate tweets.

Some of you were replied to that John Dumelo video with ”ko nie” and such because you know what it means for a man to access all-women spaces so I know you understand it was predatory but admitting it would mean admitting that you prey on women too. Go and deal with your sins.

She said: "I’m astonished by the number of men saying this in response to my tweet about a man walking into the rooms of women students to hug them. Do you people know you can be nice to women without being creepy? As in, not grabby, and respectful of women’s personal spaces and bodies?

Nana Ama never cited feminism as her premise for finding what John Dumelo did gross and predatory. But somehow her feminist stand was dragged into it. You see why quality education should be cheaper in Ghana?

I always feel ladies hugging me is predatory and gross.. That was how one lady used predatory skills to steal my virginity and made me pregnant...

Nana Ama, thanks for speaking for us.
What's predatory about this? Their reactions and the smiles on their faces alone made it so obvious and evident that they were happy hugging John Dumelo. It's not as if the hug was imposed on them. You be feminist enzo hort? Madam Nana Ama, take a seat at the back na wopre dodo. https://t.co/VIR6WDJMcx

Y'all should chill. Nana Ama is a free thinker, disagree with her without insulting. #Ghana 😔

Twitter should be able to screen some people's brains before allowing them to join the community. Clearly some people don't meet the brain-capacity requirements to understand things here. Someone tweets in this direction and they understand it in an absurd way. Jxt c Nana Ama 😑

Isn’t it Nana Ama of CitiFM? She surmises that something is always wrong. She addressed Mr. Dumelo with Considerable discourtesy with her “Orchestrated barracking”. See how her aroused apoplexy over s friendly gesture is causing a backlash. She’s just excessively pedantic always https://t.co/7lndPwcjsf

Nana Ama you can fight for the right of women... It's a good course but just get your issues right and don't come up with these absurd things. Do you want to tell me your uncles who use to hug you when they visit just cause they miss you were being graby and creepy? https://t.co/jC08fc3F77

"Oh this is gross and disrespectful to women. Why is he sitting and eating whilst his househelp pours him a drink? All he's telling us is women don't need to eat on same table and time with men. This is the problem men supremacy has created" - Nana Ama pic.twitter.com/ZhyNMYI7aZ
