Ginger Bird Reading Club launched in Koforidua
A reading club for schoolchildren, the “Ginger Bird Reading Club” was launched at Kovoc School in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
The club was formed by ReadioActive, an organisation which aims at promoting active, enjoyable reading among schoolchildren.
In an address to launch the club, the PTA Chairman of Kovoc School, Rev Charles Amankwah, encouraged the pupils to take advantage of the newly formed club and expand their horizons by reading widely.
ReadioActive is a non-profit organisation which was founded by four students of the Ghana International School. They are; Rheena Arthur, Mama Biamah, Ewurabena Ampofo-Tenkorang, and Alia Baitie.

As book-lovers themselves, their aim is to actively promote the habit of reading among schoolchildren.
In a short address the founders remarked on the ability of reading to excite imagination, stimulate creativity and promote broad-mindedness.
The patrons of the Ginger Bird Reading Club, who are teachers of the school, pledged their support and commitment to the growth of the club.
The ReadioActive members also donated books worth GH¢5,000 for a proposed library in the school and pledged future assistance towards the development of the project.
