Chibrinyoa JHS students get support
Fifty students of the Chibrinyoa Junior High School in the Bole District have benefited from educational support from the Zakat Foundation (ZF) of America.
The support for the beneficiaries, which was in the form of backpacks containing books, pens and mathematical sets, formed part of the ZF Education programme for students in underprivileged areas of the country.
Presenting the items to the beneficiaries, the Country Representative of ZF, Alhaji Salia Alhassan said the foundation has since 2005 been distributing those items to students in remote and less privileged areas to assist them in their education.
He said the foundation has since the inception of the programme, distributed over 1000 backpacks to pupils in the Brong Ahafo and Northern regions.
Aside from the provision of educational materials, he said the foundation had also provided schools to communities that lack educational infrastructure and drilled boreholes for those who did not have water.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr Abdul Majeed Osman, was grateful to the foundation for the gesture which he said would go a long way to help the students.
He said due to the poverty level in the area, many of the students were unable to buy some of the books to enable them to take active part in their education.
He expressed the hope that the beneficiaries would put the items to good use in order to perform well at school.
