Alpha Beta undertakes community service

Sixth Form students of Alpha Beta Christian College have embarked on a community service project as part of the Adinkrahene Leadership Programme, a dedicated leadership track in the school.

Fourteen young leaders from the Lower Sixth Form undertook various fundraising activities to provide resources and refurbish a school block in Gyakiti in the Asuogyaman District in the Eastern Region.

According to Dr. Naomi Adjepong, Operations Manager of Alpha Beta Schools, the project was driven primarily by the students who planned and implemented it with the support of some members of staff. The project lasted for three days and was executed by a 20-member team.

Dr Adjepong said it consisted of painting the internal and external walls of a three-classroom KG/Nursery block, painting of furniture and playground equipment and decoration of the classroom walls with teaching and learning materials. The young leaders also presented the school with additional resources, including classroom furniture, footballs, mats, slates, chalk and stationery.

“The Gyakiti Presby School has been greatly transformed through the efforts of these young students. The transformation was greatly appreciated by all the children and adults of the community. Young leaders of the Adinkrahene Leadership Programme are encouraged to be socially conscious and give back to society whenever they can,” Dr Adjepong added.
