Mother Earth Festival for Easter
This Easter will be a special one for all those who will make it to the Asaasi Yaa Beach Front Resort at Kokrobite for the first ever Mother Earth Festival.
The festival which comes off on March 26 and 27 will bring together people from all walks of life to have great fun while contributing to a worthy cause.
According to Yasmeen Helwani, organiser of the festival, “the Mother Earth Festival is a weekend set aside to celebrate Mother Earth and to raise people’s awareness and consciousness of the green lifestyle through music, dance and art.”
“It is brought to you by Bibini Music, we will also celebrate Faisal Helwani and his immense contribution to the Ghanaian music industry. There will be a historical exhibition and tribute to Faisal Helwani on Sunday, March 27,” she said.
There will be meditation sessions on both mornings until 9am and an Eco market which will feature locally made, handmade recycled products and organic products.
Miss Helwani urged all to adopt a tree, plant or flower explaining that, “the festival aims to plant a thousand trees every year, we are currently taking donations of nursed trees, flower and plant shoots. At least 200 people will leave the festival with a new plant, flower or tree to care for, we thank Farmer Torks for pledging to donate fruit trees.
According to Miss Helwani, details of everyone will be taken so that there can be follow ups on the tree planting.
As happens with most festivals, there will be traditional music and dance as well as music and dance workshop. The special feature of the Mother Earth festival will be the best natural look and natural hairstyle contest where winners will receive special prizes.
On Saturday night, there will be the Reggae Rising Concert featuring Knii Lante, Yasmeen, Jahwi, Osagyefo and Fiifi Selah. Two members of the Reggae Rising group, Jahwi and Osagyefo took turns to assure guests of a spectacular performance.
