Kirk Franklin promises great show at 'Adom Praiz'

American gospel artiste, Kirk Franklin has promised to give gospel music lovers a real treat when he headlines the 2013 edition of the Adom Praiz concert on Saturday, August 3 at the Perez Dome, formerly Word Miracle Chapel, Dzorwulu junction in Accra.

Speaking to Jerry Justice on ­Ofie Kwanso on Adom FM, an elated Kirk Franklin said he could not wait to be in Ghana for the all-important concert.

“I can’t wait to come. I’m coming. My whole crew is coming. We have our bags packed and we are proud to return to the motherland.  We will kiss the ground when we get off the plane and celebrate Christ with the people of Ghana and do all the songs from all the albums,” he said.

Kirk Franklin first came to Ghana in 2002 with a small team to perform two concerts at the Independence Square and the Accra International Conference Centre.

“This time, I’m bringing the whole band and singers.  We want to give people everything they have been looking forward to feeling.  We want to do it all to the glory of God,” the Grammy Award-winning artiste said.

He gave an assurance that he was definitely going to do more songs than he did the first time he was here. Franklin also hinted he was going to learn as many dances as possible, including the Azonto on arrival and do them on stage.

Kirk Franklin also granted another interview on Joy FM’s Drive Time with Bola Ray, where he noted that apart from inspiration from God, the other driving forces behind his success were his love and passion for his work of telling the gospel through music.

“You hear me talking about loving God and doing songs that celebrate his grace and mercy; it is something that is very natural for me and something I get excited in doing. I can’t wait to come back and do it again for the beautiful people of Ghana,” he stressed.

Using probably the only Twi words he knows so far – Akwaaba (Welcome) and Medo Ghana (I love Ghana) - during the interview, he assured Ghanaians that; “We are going to try to do 20 years of music in one night.”

Apart from Kirk Franklin, who has six solo albums to his credit, some of Ghana’s music gems such as Cwesi Oteng, Cecilia Marfo and Ohemaa Mercy will also perform at Adom Praiz 2013.
