Iwan: My record label not serious

Jahsigfamily Entertainment, an event organising company based in Denmark, which also serves as a record label is likely to slap dancehall artiste, Iwan with legal action for breach of contract.

However, Iwan has also revealed he cannot work with the record label anymore because it is not a serious outfit and he has therefore decided to part ways with them.

Ms Agatha Oduro, head of JahSigFamily revealed to Showbiz, last Friday that the contract with Iwan is for two years. But ever since he signed on to the label about four months ago, he has gone contrary to the agreement and this might prompt a legal action to be taken against him by her outfit.

According to Ms Oduro, Iwan has been performing without the knowledge of the company label and has refused to listen to reason.

She explained that per the contract, Iwan is to record songs with sound engineer, Zapp Mallat but he has not done so. “Anytime I bring up the topic, he comes up with excuses. Instead of talking music, he rather talks about the company renting a place for him and buying him a car.

“Getting him accomodation and a car was never part of the contract so I don’t understand why he has been demanding them.  Moreso, never has Iwan promoted the label which signed him on his social media platforms” she said.

Ms Oduro whose outfit has also signed on musicians Briana and D– Sherrif pointed out that Iwan is making things difficult for her.

“He’s not a willing business partner at all. For instance, he has also refused to change his looks to enable me market him here in Ghana as well as Denmark. I cannot sell him as a brand with all that facial hair.

“ I was just trying to help an artiste whose career is almost dead but if he is refusing to cooperate, then I am afraid we can’t work together again” she stated.

On his part, Iwan real name Abdul Razak Issahaku, said, Ms Agartha Oduro is not a serious person hence his refusal to work with her.

“The label has not done anything for me since I signed on and that is the reason I started performing on my own.

“I don’t see why I should be working with a brand I am bigger than. I have four awards to my credit and I’m not an up and coming artiste who does not know his left from his right” he said.

Iwan told Showbiz that, JahSigFamily Entertainment was taking advantage of his fame and making him do things outside the contract he signed.

According to him, Agatha made him do a lot of rounds during a Denmark Meet Ghana concert and nothing came out of it. 

“How can you tell a star like me to ask musicians to perform at a show which you cancel without my knowledge? She is just not serious and I cannot work with her again”, he said.

Iwan noted that it is never true that JahSigFamily Entertainment wanted him to get rid of his facial hair so he can be marketable. 

The Who Is Bad hitmaker said his lawyers are on the case but as it stands now, he does not see himself working with JahSigFamily Entertainment.
