It’s Tulwe – And a $1,000,000 Global Music Contest
The legendary Bob Marley was right when he counseled that many more doors are opened when one door closes on you. Well, a brave new music venture is actually offering a million more opportunities while the West’s American Idol and X Factor platforms seem too far beyond the reach of many young musicians this part of the world.
A mobile app-based global music contest hunting for the most talented music star is promising everyone with a smart phone and internet access that all places are distant alike from a $1,000,000 (one million dollars) recording contract as top prize, plus other local or national recording contracts and several thousands in scholarships.
Participants are expected to download and install the Tulwe App from Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store, and thereafter either record and upload one’s music video and or watch other posts and vote for favourites.
At its recent launch, Tulwe Inc Founder and CEO, Dr. Anthony Karim Adam described his venture as similar in nature to popular television shows like American Idol and X Factor where viewers determine who wins based on popular vote, however, the Tulwe Global Music Contest is different in that the competition is “worldwide, and penetrates even the most remote places on earth”.

There are no auditions, and there is also no selection exercise for a chance at this opportunity as Tulwe’s proprietary app melts all those high-cost challenges into a finger-tip solution.
"Its simple interface will enable users to record and upload their songs from the comfort of their homes — wherever that may be — and get voted on by a global audience. This is likely one of the fastest ways to get noticed and build a music career without having to invest in getting to the right place at the right time. The Tulwe Global Music Contest has potential to change the way the music industry operates as a whole", said Karim.
“Tulwe will sign a US$1 million record deal with the winner, while also giving the chance for contestants with a high number of votes an opportunity to sign recording deals for local or national production.”
"Our strategy is to motivate high school and university students in particular to remain active on the Tulwe platform and engage with one another, while giving them the opportunity to win scholarships to cover their school fees for a whole year."
Becca performs at the official launch of the Tulwe Global Music Contest
Ghana’s music diva, Becca, a special guest at the launch of Tulwe in Dubai, was full of praise for the platform.
“Honestly if it’s to do with music I’m there. I think that it’s a good platform, it’s an opportunity, because sometimes people have to be there physically but this time it’s not like that, it’s videoing yourself and sending it out there for people to see you and so I think the reach is going to be wider, I think the audience are going to be of different kinds of people, different range, different countries. For me I think it’s really a good initiative, it’s good for people who are in different parts of the world who do not have opportunity to be exposed to the world, to be on this platform and just show their talent to the world.”
Becca recalled how her own music career benefited from a similar tonic, and said it was a good connection by all means.

“It’s a good connection really, it just takes me back to the time when I was starting music and I had to go through a music competition and I came out, I was successful. I believe in it (Tulwe), to give people - musicians, people who aspire to be musicians the opportunity to showcase their talent, I think it’s always good for me because sometimes there is so much talent and everybody just boils down, so when the opportunity comes take it, it’s so good. I believe in this and I think it’s going to work… I think it’s important for them to go and download the Tulwe app, and join the competition, you never know, I’m just hoping that someone in Ghana comes up as the winner. Let’s just go and let’s just do this, it’s a good opportunity, it’s a good exposure as well”, Becca said.
