Artistes seek God’s protection

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), in collaboration with Goldman Foundation, will organise a prayer session on Friday, December 3 at the MUSIGA Headquarters in Accra  to seek the face of God in the entertainment industry.

A number of creative persons have died this year. While the general public continue to wonder what  is happening in the camps of the actors and musicians, some of the creative folks themselves think it is time to ask for God’s protection for their lives.

Since the beginning of the year, about 12 well-known names in show business have died. They include Solomon Sampah, Nii Odoi Mensah, Nkomode, Bob Okalla and Danny Nettey.

Others are Daasebre Dwamenah,  Omanhene Pozo, George Forest, Vybrant Faya,  George B. Williams,  Isaac Yeboah (Amakye Dede’s manager) and Katawere.

“The spate of deaths has become a source of worry to some of us,” the Deputy Director for Gospel Music at MUSIGA and main organiser of the prayer session, Mr Daniel Agyin, stated.

“I had a dream that there was trouble in the entertainment industry. It was a revelation to me and I prayed about it but I guess we have to do more.”

He said MUSIGA was liaising with the Ghana Actors Guild and other artistic unions for an effective prayer session.

“We will pray to God for guidance and protection and also give thanks for His blessings.  We will pray for God’s mercy and grace for  the entertainment industry.

“God will listen to us when we come together to pray. It does not matter whether one is an actor, musician, dancer or fashion model. Everyone is invited because we will also use the occasion to pray for peaceful elections,” the MUSIGA official said.
