U2Jay goes with the flow
It is normal for artistes of all shades to embrace trending issues and beats in their work to enable them sound relevant and contemporary.
That’s what the Accra-based U2Jay duo, comprising Joseph Wise Laryea (Uwonda) and Jewel Nartey (Jewnart), have done with their latest single titled, Eye Normal.
Released early this month, the song rendered in Twi and Pidgen English kicks off with a driving Azonto beat and manages to maintain a delightful, constant groove.
The main thrust of the lyrics is that certain happenings which one might have regarded as abnormal sometime ago, should be seen as normal these days.

The two young men say it is normal these days if someone snatches your partner or even if accused of a pregnancy you are not responsible for:
Everything na normal
From Accra to Lagos
419 be the game we dey play
Today na ur own tomorrow go be my own
If a pastor turns into a snake
If Bukom Banku slaps you
It is normal
It appears U2Jay intends to create some fun, get people dancing to their beat and also talking about their somehow controversial lyrics.
The song is getting a fair amount of airplay and mention on social media, probably an indication that the young men have hit the right buttons they intended to.
The duo has two other songs: Sweeter and Yaa Boatemaa also trending on social media but Eye Normal is the track bolstering them at the moment.
They are both sound engineers and songwriters. They have performed on the same stage with acts like Koo Ntakra, Abrewa Nana, Samini, Nii Funny and Shatta Wale.
Artistes whose songs they have featured on include Kaseem Bebe, Abrewa Nana and Koo Ntakra.
“We are working hard to hit the limelight in a big way so everyone should keep their ears wide open for us in the coming months,” UWonda said.
