UPSA to receive prestigious ACBSP accreditation; Sets sub-Saharan record

A high powered  delegation of University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) is participating in this year's. Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programmes (ACBSP) in Atlanta, in the United States.

As part of the four day conference, UPSA will receive the prestigious ACBSP accreditation. The university is the first in sub-Saharan Africa to achieve the prestigious ACBSP accreditation, giving it a world-class recognition.

The nine-member delegation includes the Vice Chancellor of UPSA, Professor Joshua Alabi and the Executive Secretary of the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE), Professor Mohammed Salifu, the Executive Secretary of National Accredtiation Board, Mr. Kwame Dartey.

The Chairman of the Governing Council Mr. Justice Aryeetey, The Dean of Centre for International Education and Collaboration, UPSA, Prof. Goski  Alabi, and  a member of the council, Mr. Emmanuel Acquaye are part of the delegation. Other member of the delegation are Rev J.K. Antwi, Director of Finance and Abdulai Munkaila, Coordinator for International Education and Collaboration.

ACBSP is the biggest and the fastest growing accreditation body in the world. It currently has 1,215 member campuses, 235 of which are located outside of the U.S.

Of those campuses, 951 have achieved accreditation and 167 are in candidacy for accreditation. Individual members on these campuses now exceed 13,000.

The Chief Accreditation Officer, ACBSP said: "The UPSA have shown their to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process."

"This accreditation is evidence that UPSA is committed to providing the highest quality business education for their students."

Prof. Goski Alabi said the accreditation process was very rigorous and tough because the criteria set by the ACBSP were high.

" The process was not easy at all. There have been lessons learnt which l believe will help us to even to further improve on what we are currently doing.

"The accreditation will encourage us all to do better and also we will share the learning experience with other universities."
