Starwin re-opens for operations
Starwin Products Ghana Limited, a local pharmaceutical company, has re-opened three months after it closed down due to a takeover by another pharmaceutical company, Dannex.
The decision to re-open follows the directives from the National Labour Commission (NLC), after it held a series of dialogue with managements of Starwin Products Ghana Limited and Dannex.
More than 100 staff of the company who was denied entry into the premises of the company was allowed to enter the premises without any interruption.
Workers were not excited about the news of their return to work as most of them refused to proceed to their various departments.

According to them, they were dissatisfied because the main issues that caused the closure of the company remained unsettled.
Last July, there was chaos on the premises of Starwin Ghana as workers of the company were denied access to their offices.
The workers, numbering over hundred, were prevented from entering the premises of Starwin by management of the company.
The impasse followed news of a long drawn stalemate between the management of Dannex and Starwin over the takeover by the former.
Addressing the workers, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Starwin, Mr Nick Amateyfio, assured the workers that measures were being put in place to address all the challenges.
He stressed the need for the workers to put in their best to redeem the image of the company and also reclaim its top position in the pharmaceutical company.
Mr Amateyfio, who is also the majority shareholder of Starwin, said management of the company was ready and willing to address the concerns of workers and equip them with the needed tools to boost their operations.
For his part, the Deputy General Secretary of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) in charge of Operations, Mr Morgan Ayawine, said he was expecting work to begin fully today.
“Although work starts today, the company need to take stock of its products and undertake the necessary documentations with a team of auditors before workers can have the boldness to proceed.” he said.
