Chamber of Mines commends JBA
The Ghana Chamber of Mines has commended the Journalists for Business Advocacy (JBA) for its advocacy efforts in bringing concerns and challenges of member companies to the fore.
JBA, which is a group of business journalists committed to advocating concerns of businesses to bring about policy change, played a key role in educating the public on issues pertaining to the mining sector in 2015.
Speaking at the 88th annual general meeting of the Chamber in Accra, the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Sulemana, commended the group for helping the chamber bring to the fore, the fallouts of the sector as a result of the country’s energy crisis and declining prices of gold globally.
He said in 2015, the Chamber held three press soirees in the Eastern, Western and Greater Accra Regions as well as separate interactions with the JBA.

The President of the chamber, Mr Kwame Addo- Kufuor, also commended JBA for playing a key role in disseminating relevant information to help curb the misconceptions over the handling of mining issues in the public arena.
This, he said, helped to strengthen the media relations between the chamber and the media.
“In line with the objectives, the Chamber met with the JBA in Accra, the Western and Eastern regional press corps as well as other media organisations to share the story of member companies,” he said.
