This is the first time Ghana is participating in a world wrestling championship following Jemima’s qualification at the African Wrestling Championship.

Her trainer and president of the Ghana Wrestling Association, Master Norbert Amefu, told  Graphic Sports that the agile wrestler from the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) was poised to bring home a medal.

He praised the Youth and Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, for enabling the nation’s top female wrestler to compete in the event.

“I must say that our Sports Minister is there for all sports. He has shown that he cares about the least-financed sporting disciplines too, and I thank him for this,” he said.

The competition climaxes today.
