While acknowledging the role of the Africa Paralympic Committee (AfPC), he stated that the country would open its arms to welcome all participants who would be participating in this year’s Africa Paralympic Games in Accra.

At the opening of the four-day sports training programme in Accra last Friday, the minister praised the choice of Ghana to host the training and said it would help prepare the various technical personnel for the games.

“As you know, in a few months the Republic of Ghana will host the rest of Africa in the first Africa Para Games, Accra 2023, the first of its kind in Africa.

“I am not surprised that Ghana was chosen to host this technical training, thus helping train and prepare various technical personnel for the games. I commend the organisers for this decision”, the minister said.

The meeting saw over 100 participants from 15 different Africa countries, and the minister acknowledged the AfPC, the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana, the World Para Powerlifting Organisation (WPPO) and the World Para Volleyball (WPV) for facilitating the training.

Mr Ussif also used the opportunity to invite participants to be part of the games when it opened in September, stating that “I wish on behalf of the President, the government and the good people of the Republic of Ghana to invite you all, and look forward to seeing you again’’.
