Kofi Nti Boakye lands deal in Nigeria
Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker, Kofi Nti Boakye, has joined Nigerian top-flight side, FC Ifeanyi Ubah, on a short-term five-month deal.
The 28-year-old is attempting to revive his career after a shoulder injury sustained during a game against Al Ahly in the Egyptian League that kept him out of action for a year, thereby truncating his contract with Egyptian side, Misr El Makasa.
Boakye’s contract with FC Ifeanyi Ubah was confirmed to the Graphic Sports last Saturday by his agent, Nana Kwarteng, of Step by Step Sports and Management Agency.
“Kofi is on a comeback trail after being ruled out for a year, that is why he signed such a short contract with FC Ifeanyi Ubah,” Mr Kwarteng explained.
“Within those five months we are hopeful that he will be able to prove his fitness and earn a long-term deal either with Ifeanyi Ubah or with another team.
“I can’t disclose the financial details of the deal but Ifeanyi Ubah are a team that’s financially secure and Kofi will have no problems during his stay in Nigeria”, he added.
Boakye has already found his scoring boots for his new club, scoring the second goal when Ifeanyi Ubah defeated Shooting Stars 3-1 on March 3 in the Nigerian Premier League.
