Ghana gears up for African Games with health walk and theme song launch
Accra's streets pulsated with anticipation for the 13th African Games yesterday (December 23, 2023) as the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) hosted a lively health walk.

This vibrant procession aimed to build excitement for the upcoming continental sporting event set for March 2024.
Starting at the Accra Sports Stadium, prominent figures from the LOC, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and sports federation heads joined forces with enthusiastic locals. The message? "Ghana is ready to welcome Africa in March!"
The walk bustled with energy, featuring the infectious dance rhythms of the popular "Di Asa" ladies, a sea of waving Ghana flags, and the distribution of branded T-shirts and souvenirs.
Addressing participants after the walk, LOC Executive Chairman Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare highlighted Ghana's readiness to host the continent. He exuded confidence, stating, "We overcame doubts in the past, and we will deliver a spectacular African Games, just as promised."
Theme song
Before the walk, the LOC unveiled the official theme song for the Games, titled "Experience the African Dream" on Friday. Composed by Ebenezer Crassie, known as Oshogbo, the song was chosen from over 300 entries by music experts, including esteemed musician Bessa Simons, President of the Musician Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).
In a post-launch interview, Oshogbo expressed surprise and immense gratitude for the win.
"This victory is beyond anything I imagined," he shared. "It's a testament to hard work and faith. My journey through music school and its challenges led me here. I thank God for this and hope it inspires others to chase their dreams."
With his newfound platform, Oshogbo emphasized the importance of collective support. He urged Ghanaians to rally behind the LOC, united in their commitment to hosting a phenomenal edition of the African Games in March 2024.
