British High C’ssion supports education project
The British High Commission (BHC) last Saturday presented a cheque for GH¢30,000 to the Ghana Education Project (GEP) as part of events which crowned the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)-led Sport Relief 2014 celebrations at the El-Wak Stadium.
The British High Commissioner, Mr Peter Jones, staff of the High Commission, and event sponsors — Armajaro Ghana Limited, Blue Skies and Crown Paints — took part in an interesting one-mile race that allowed participants to either run, walk, hop, skip or jump to the finish line.

After the donation, Team BHC challenged Team Ministry of Youth and Sports, who were cheered from the sidelines by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, to an 11-a-side football game which ended 1-0 in favour of Team BHC.
The Project Co-ordinator of GEP, Gill Norris, thanked the High Commission and its partners for coming to the aid of her organisation, located at Nkwanta in the Volta Region.

She said the amount would be used for two projects, which included completing a senior high school, as well as improving the reading habits of children in the district.
Peter Jones later explained that the Sport Relief was a biennial charity event organised by the BBC, which brings together the worlds of sport and entertainment to raise money to help vulnerable people in the United Kingdom and Africa.
