New Ghana football season to commence in November
The flagship Ghana Premier League is expected to start on Friday, November 13, while the Division One League kicks off on December 3 with the Women’s Premier League starting on January 2, 2021, according to a GFA statement on Thursday.
The football season was suspended on March 15 in line with the government's directive banning all social gatherings and sporting events in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, on June 30, the GFA cancelled the entire season and expunged all associated records.
According to the football governing body, clubs will need to fulfil all Club Licensing Regulation requirements to be submitted by October 5 and vetted by the Club Licensing Board, which is expected to begin inspection of venues and secretariat of clubs in the Premier League, Division One and the Women’s Premier League.
League clubs at all levels are to begin registering their players up to October 31.
