Kenpong fans back home
Soccer fans who travelled on the ticket of Kenpong Travel and Tours (KT&T) have arrived home safely as hundreds of supporters sponsored to Brazil began returning home at the weekend.
The fans, numbering about 300, arrived at the Kotoka International Airport from Brasilia last Saturday on a chartered flight.
They were met on arrival by Kennedy Agyapong, Chairman of the Kenpong Group of Companies, who expressed his delight that travel arrangements went smoothly in Brazil without any recorded incidents.
However, the usually cool Mr Agyapong did not hide his outrage at the treatment meted out to some of his VIP clients, including top executives of Vodafone Ghana, who travelled from Accra on Business Class but were strangely lumped into economy class by some travel agents working in Brazil on behalf of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
On learning of the change in travel arrangements for his clients, Mr Agyapong personally went to the airport to apologise to the affected clients and also demanded explanation for the embarrassing situation.

Nonetheless, the Communications Manager of Kenpong Travel and Tours, Mohammed Alhassan, said the fans had the opportunity to watch all the group matches involving Ghana in Natal, Fortaleza and Brasilia.
“Although Ghana failed to live up to expectation, we had a life time experience, thanks to Kenpong, his package was excellent,” Abdul Aziz, a satisfied fan told the Daily Graphic last Saturday.
His sentiments were corroborated by Ms Joyce Takyi, another fan who said she had a wonderful World Cup experience. “We had a smooth flight from Accra to Natal and to all the other places we visited; we didn’t experience any airport challenges,”
Mr Alhassan described the trip as a huge success saying, “Kenpong has indeed proved a point. We promised to deliver an unforgettable experience and our clients will bear me witness.”
Kenpong Travels was among the three travel and tour companies the government tasked to airlift soccer fans to the Brazil World Cup.
