Dauda sure of qualification

Ghana’s U-20 captain, Dauda Mohammed, has blamed poor defending for the Black Satellites’ 1-2 loss to Ethiopia in the first leg of the African Youth Championship but is still optimistic of qualification to the next stage.

Ghana conceded two quick goals in the early minutes of the game before Jonah Osabutey pulled one back.

The skipper insisted that the defence lost concentration and defended poorly, resulting in the goals they conceded.

“I think we lost concentration and focus in the early minutes of the game.”

“You could see that both goals conceded were from defensive lapses but we hope to beat them in the second leg in Ghana and qualify,” Dauda said after last Sunday’s game in Addis Ababa.

Ghana will host the Ethiopians in a fortnight at the Accra Sports Stadium for the winner to meet either Senegal or Tunisia for a ticket to the 2017 African Youth Championship in Zambia.
