ECG improves power supply to Obuasi, environs
As part of the exercise, the company is replacing the old 5MVA transformer with a 10 MVA transformer to increase supply and also improve on the power supply in the enclave.
Engineers from Kumasi have been dispatched to Bekwai to transport the 10 MVA transformer to Obuasi for fixing to resolve the power supply system that has bedevilled Obuasi, Akrokeri and surrounding communities for a while now.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic about the ongoing project, the Communications Manager for the Ashanti Regional Strategic Business Unit of ECG, Mr. Erasmus Kyere Baidoo, pleaded with those who would be affected by the ongoing works to bear with the company as it was for their own good.
According to him, the company was improving power delivery in all areas. “The quality, safety and reliability of our customers are being enhanced for their socio-economic development,” he said.

Already, he said the communities that would be affected by the maintenance work had been duly notified and he was hopeful that the works would be completed on time for power to be restored to them.
