We faced enough challenges to undermine our promises – President Akufo-Addo
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says the challenges inherited by his government were enough to undermine the promises he made to Ghanaians ahead of the 2016 elections.
According to him, the ailing banking sector, low agricultural and industrial activities, and widespread unemployment rate posed a great challenge to the government in delivering on its promises.
However, he said because he was determined to overturn the challenges and create opportunities for all, the government embarked on various intervention projects to allay the fears of the public.
"We were determined to use our resources to build a robust economy," he said whilst opening a Results Fair organised by the Ministry of Monitoring and Evaluation in Accra on Tuesday, January 14, 2020.
The 3-day fair was put together by the Ministry of Monitoring and Evaluation to facilitate ministries, departments and agencies of the government to furnish the country with the results of the various policies and interventions that they had spearheaded.
Organised under the theme, “Delivering results for citizens work in progress,” each ministry has been assigned a booth where its departments and agencies are exhibiting the results of their various policies and programmes.
President Akufo-Addo said the purpose of the fair was to enable the government to showcase the impacts of the interventions of government's flagship programmes.
He expressed the hope that the fair would continue to be featured as one of the country’s governance system for citizens to witness various projects being undertaken by government.
