PNC appeals to EC for opportunity to discuss redress
The People’s National Convention (PNC) has appealed to the Electoral Commission (EC) for an opportunity to discuss redress and get the Presidential Candidate of the party, Dr Edward Nasigre Mahama, back on the ballot.
The General Secretary of the PNC, Mr Atik Mohammed, has therefore urged the rank and file of the party to remain calm while the leadership work to get the presidential candidate back on the ballot.
In a press statement, he explained that the Electoral Commission had assigned reasons for disqualifying Dr Edward Nasigri Mahama, the 2016 presidential candidate of the PNC.
He, however, stated that ‘’as a party, we have met and reviewed the concerns raised and have appealed to the EC for an opportunity to discuss redress.’’
According to the statement, after studying the issues, ‘’we hold the view that these concerns can be remedied. Indeed, we have enough grounding to affect the decision of the Electoral Commission’’.
It will be recalled that the EC this week rejected the nomination forms of Dr Mahama and 11 other presidential hopefuls for a number of reasons including persons signing for two presidential candidates which was against the rules of engagement.
