Nduom dares EC: Give me 5 minutes of your time else I go to court

The disqualified flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has requested an audience with the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs Charlotte Osei, over issues regarding his disqualification.

He has therefore asked Mrs Osei to spare him five minutes of her time in order to “solve this matter simply [and] administratively” by Thursday or resort to the court.

Addressing supporters at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, Dr Nduom said, “If we cannot solve this matter simply, administratively, then we will take the legal right and go to court to seek satisfaction so that I can be on the ballot…which is the destination we want to be on the ballot and let the people of Ghana decide who should be president of the republic of Ghana.”

“I am asking the chairperson of the EC and the returning the officer to let me know by the end of Thursday this week, when we can meet and deal with this matter positively. And so, Mrs Charlotte Osei, all I’m asking is a chance for us, you and I, to meet. Five minutes of your time,” he added.

“I believe that it is a simple administrative of clerical matter that can be resolved… However if we cannot solve this mater simply, administratively, then we will take the legal route and go to court to seek satisfaction so that I can be on the ballot. That is the destination we want, to be on the ballot,” he noted.

Why PPP was disqualified

The EC on Monday announced the disqualification of Dr Nduom because he had failed to provide the required number of endorsements to see his nomination through.

Again, the EC said, one Richard Aseda who endorsed Dr Nduom did double endorsement, first in the Central Region and then in the Volta Region.
