Muslims urged to use Ramandan to pray for country
The Member of Parliament for Dome /Kwabenya, Ms Sarah Adwoa Safo, has challenged Muslims to use the Ramadan period to pray for Ghana to remain peaceful after the declaration of the verdict in the ongoing election petition hearing at the Supreme Court.
She said the country was at the crossroads and it was only the boldness and uprightness of the judges that would keep the peace of the nation intact.
The MP made the appeal during a short ceremony during which she presented food items to the Muslim communities within her constituency.
The food items include 40 bags of rice, 10 bags of sugar and 10 cartons of milk.
Delivering the package, Ms Safo commended them for the observance of the annual ritual by denying themselves of food for the period of one month to pray for Allah to protect the peace of the nation.
Receiving the items, the Imam of the Dome Pillar Two Muslim community, Muhammad Salisu Sulaimana, praised the MP for always showing care and taking active interest in ensuring that the period of fasting became lighter for the Muslims in the area.
He, therefore, asked all political leaders to emulate the concerns and interest shown by the MP and asked for Allah’s guidance and protection for her.
Imam Sulaimana assured the MP that he would implore all Muslims to offer special prayers for Ghana to keep its peace intact.
He also made a special appeal to politicians to desist from making pronouncements that would antagonise the credibility of the Supreme Court judges.
He said Ghana had chosen the path of democracy which provided specific roles to specific institutions, noting that all these roles worked together to strengthen the country's democratic path, hence the urgent need to respect the roles that everybody played to ensure the development of the nation.
