I will keep promises — Nana Addo

The flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has assured the people of the Ayawaso Central Constituency in Accra that he intends to carry out every promise made to the people of Ghana.

He said contrary to views that had been expressed by opponents that his vision for Ghana  was impossible to implement, he was ready and committed to implementing each aspect of the vision one after the other.

Addressing separate mini-rallies at Alajo, Kotobabi and Newtown he said Ghana was capable of rising again from the low level it had sunk to due to the incompetence of the Mahama-led administration.

The Mahama administration, he said, had shown that it was short of productive ideas for the progress of the nation and for which reason Ghanaians had to go through so much suffering and pain.

“The seat of the presidency is not one of trial and error. If you cannot handle it, just step down,” he said.

‘Let’s stamp NDC out’

But God, he said, had given Ghanaians the opportunity to stamp out an incompetent administration that had become effective only at bringing suffering to Ghanaians.

All that Ghanaians have to do, he said, was to use their thumbs in executing a peaceful but loud revolution that would see the installation of a new government under his leadership.

He said President Mahama was asking for another four-year term, adding that if he could not achieve anything in eight years as Vice-President and President, then there was no way he could achieve anything even if he was given a century to rule.

Nana Addo said he had tried twice to sell a message of hope to the people of Ghana and even though they bought into it, the votes that accompanied the realisation of that vision fell short of victory and entreated Ghanaians to go out in their numbers to vote the NPP into power on December 7.

“The only party capable of changing the reality of the situation of Ghana is the NPP,” he said.

Restoring the destiny of Ghana

The NPP parliamentary aspirant for the Ayawaso Central Constituency, Mr Henry Quartey, said unlike other contestants for the presidency, Nana Addo was a self-accomplished man who would not even think of enriching himself at the expense of the state.

On the other hand, he said the commitment of the NPP flag bearer was targeted at ensuring that the destiny of the country that had become bleak due to the corrupt and incompetence of the NDC administration was revived to bring hope and prosperity to the people of Ghana.

A vote for the NDC, he said, would mean that there would be darker days ahead for Ghanaians, adding that under the arrangement made between the government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), more workers in the public sector would be laid off.

Already, he said the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) was being sold and added that that was indicative of the fact that Ghanaians were going to pay more for power, a situation that would kill businesses and make life more unbearable for Ghanaians.

For his part, a leading member of the party, Mr Alan Kyerematen, said the biggest challenge the people of Ghana were facing, especially the youth, was unemployment.

The key to job creation

From all indications, he said, the NDC administration had woefully failed in addressing that challenge and added that it was only Nana Addo and the NPP that held the key to job creation and the revamping of dying businesses.
