Doctors renovate School of Medical Sciences hostel
The Vice Dean of the School of Medical Sciences (SMS) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. F. A. Yeboah, has called on corporate entities, philanthropists and the government to help expand facilities at the school to increase students intake.
He expressed worry that although there were quality lecturers, the lack of facilities inhibited the school’s ability to admit more qualified students who could have been trained as medical doctors for the country.
Annual intake
Established in 1975 with an annual intake of 120, the medical school currently admits 250 students, using the same facilities of the school since it was established some 40 years ago.
Prof. Yeboah was interacting with the media after the 2005 year group of the SMS handed over to the school authorities renovated portions of the GETFund Hostel for medical students located within the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.
