ZETL provides free medical care for Shama district
Thousands of the residents of Nyankrom and surrounding communities in the Shama District of the Western Region have been provided free medical care by Zeal Environmental Technologies (ZETL), an indigenous oil and gas waste management service company operating in the area.
The move was to reecho the strong bond between the community and the company as well as encourage sustainable social harmony for future development.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic, the Chief Executive Officer of ZETL, Mr Kwaku Ennin, said partnering with host communities for development was not an event but sustained effort which must not be ignored.
The two-day screening took care of adults from 70 years and above, young ones from 19 to 39 as well as children from one to 18 years.

The team comprised medical doctors, pharmacists and nurses from Christian Medical Mission Resource Foundation and was accompanied by ministers of the Gospel.
Mr Ennin said: “As a Ghanaian own company on the Industrial enclave of the district, our focus is not purely on the profit, but we follow the basic principle of ensuring safe environment, our internal and external public before anything else.”
He said it was observable that in today’s corporate environment both in the developed and the developing world, people no longer do business without taking into consideration the triple bottom line.
“Much as people want investments, these investments must take into consideration issues that would reflect the environment they are operating and ZETL is committed to that.”
Mr Ennin said ZETL was aware of the importance of healthy population, which represents the most important asset of every nation.
“We are not only going to provide them with healthcare and go but [they] be referred to the VRA-Hospital at Aboadze after which the company will take care of the bills,” he said.
The Queenmother of the town Nana Akosua Gyamfiabah II commended that the company for the project, saying that the health needs of her people and the entire Shama Township was very important.
The queenmother urged the ZETL to continue to be a good corporate citizen and ensure that it sets good example to others who might have interest in the industrial park at Nyankrom.
The medical team checked various ailments and also took members of the community through counseling and other healthy lifestyle to ensure good health and increased productivity.
Some residents commended the company for their gesture. Some said they had some health problems that they were aware of but they did not have enough money to go to the hospital or renew their health insurance cards.
