Woman arrested with wee-laced condensed milk toffees and drinks
The Tafo Pankrono Divisional Police Command has arrested a 54-year-old woman, Madam Afia Pokuah, a resident of Tafo Mile 3 for trading in locally produced condensed milk toffee laced with Indian hemp.
Also retrieved from her were a quantity of local gin also laced with narcotic popularly knwon as ‘laka’ and quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
Also in the grip of the police is a 56-year-old Issah Yaw, who has allegedly been supplying Mad Pokuah with the substance.
Brief
Briefing the press, the Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Ms Juliana Obeng, said the police acting upon a tip off, arrested Madam Pokuah on July 10 at around 12:30 pm at her house.
She said when her room was searched, the police found a quantity of condensed milk toffees suspected to have been laced with narcotics.
“Also retrieved from her was darkened liquid substances tied in plain plastic sachets suspected to be local gin laced with weed” she said.
Accomplice
According to her, when she was questioned, she mentioned Issah as the one who has been supplying her with the substance and led the police to his house also at Old Tafo Mile 3 where a quantity of the substance was found in his room.
She said the suspects were currently in police custody and assisting with investigation while the substance would be sent to a forensic laboratory for testing.

ASP Obeng advised the public particularly, mothers to be wary of where and the type of condensed milk toffees they buy for their children as some of them could be toffees laced with Indian hemp.
