Veep urges parents to invest in children’s education
The Vice-President, Mr Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, has impressed on the chiefs and people of the Shai Traditional Area to invest in the education of their children.
He said for its part, the government was funding the construction of a two-storey boys dormitory and a new dining hall at the Osudoku Senior High School as part of efforts to expand access to education throughout the country.
The Vice-President made the call in a speech read on his behalf by Dr Michael Kpessah-Whyte, acting Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), at a durbar of the chiefs and people of the Shai Traditional Area to mark their annual Ngmayem Festival at Dodowa last Saturday.
This year’s festival was on the theme, Sustaining Community Development through Education.
Mr Amissah-Arthur said the festival was significant because it provided the people with a good opportunity to reflect on their rich cultural values, traditions and beliefs of their forbearers.
He stressed the need for them to be guided by their history.
Mr Amissah-Arthur commended the chiefs and people of the area for embracing peace and unity for a common cause.
The acting President of the Shai Traditional Council, Nene Nornor Sordje V, thanked the government for providing the needed facilities for students and teachers in the area.
