Upper East Ghana-China Friendship Association inaugurated
A 13-member executive of the Upper East Regional Chapter of the Ghana-China Friendship Association (GHACHIFA) has been inaugurated by the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Ms Sun Baohong, in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.
The association is chaired by a medical practioner, Dr Francis Asaana with Mr Magti Bubic as the Vice- President, Baba Yabdow as the Organiser, Hajia Felicity as Treasurer, Alhaji Abdulai Abubakar as the Patron and Mr Ibrahim Habila as Secretary.
The other members are: Mr Salifu Kombat, Mr Benjamin Anyanah, Madam Alice Nartey, Mr Yarbaar Francis Sagbo, Alhaji Adam and Mrs Linda Yabdow.
The Chinese Ambassador said since she assumed office in April 2014, GHACHIFA had continued to grow with the establishment of regional chapters in the Ashanti, Northern, Upper West and Upper East regions.
"As a result, a large number of people from all walks of life in Ghana joined GHACHIFA, closely interacted with the Chinese Embassy and are committed to promoting traditional friendship and cooperation in various fields between our two countries and offering valuable advice and suggestions," she said.
She said last year, GHACHIFA played an active role in facilitating China - Ghana Economic and Trade Forum in Kumasi, co-organising a basketball and table tennis friendship games, carrying out the Chinese-Aided ICT lab projects and making preparation for some donations to local communities.
The Upper East Regional Minister, Mr James Zuuga Tiiga, expressed the hope that the association would be active and continously link up with the Chinese Embassy to promote bilateral relations with the Chinese.
He said the region could also explore the rich economic and cultural discipline of the Chinese, their technological knowhow and all that had made China what it is today.
