Transport fares have gone up by 15 per cent, GraphicOnline understands.
The new fares will take effect from February 1, 2016.
The Acting General Secretary of the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC), Andrews Kwesi Kwakye, who announced the increase on Sunday, said the new charges have been communicated local drivers’ union nationwide, Accra-based Citi FM reported.
The increase follows the introduction of the Energy Sector levies act by the government, which caused the prices of petroleum products increase by about 27 per cent.
