Six before court for dumping refuse on the street
Six traders in the La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly (LANMMA) in the Greater Accra Region have been put before court for dumping refuse on the streets.
They are Aguiah Tiwah, Amidu Salami, Zulayatu Wudu, Stanley Ezugewu, Asi Nakina and Gina Pepra.
The six were arraigned before the Madina Magistrate Court last Wednesday, September 23, 2015. Amidu Salami and Zulayatu Wudu pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of GH¢2,000 with one surety and asked to appear on October, 7, 2015.
Stanley Ezugewu and Asi Nakina pleaded guilty to the charge and were fined GHC¢72.00 or in default two weeks imprisonment, while Gina Pepra and Aguiah Tiwah who were under age, were cautioned and discharged.
In an interview with the Daily Graphic, the Municipal Environmental Health Officer of LANMMA, Mr Joseph Quacoe, said the accused were arrested during a joint operation between LANMMA and the police.
