Pray without ceasing : Affenyi-Dadzie implores Ghanaians

The National Prayer Director of the Women’s Aglow Ministry, Mrs Gifty Affenyi-Dadzie, has called on Ghanaians not to remember God only in an election year but to call on Him daily and honour Him with decent lifestyles.

She made the call at the first monthly prayer session of the Women’s Aglow Ministry for 2016 in Accra last Saturday.

‘’Fellow Ghanaians, God is asking all of us a question: ‘Where is My honour?" she said.

Honouring God

She wondered how people could honour God, when they indulged in immorality, maligned their elders and those in authority, when there was so much hatred and the show of wickedness to one another.

"How can we honour God when our political leaders in government and in opposition use intemperate language? How can we honour God when the different facets of our

society are so corrupt?" the Prayer Director, who is a former member of the Council of State and an ex-President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), queried as she led the congregation in prayer for the nation on the theme, “Where is my honour?’’

The theme of the prayer was selected from Malachi 1:6: "A son honours his father, and a slave his master. If I am a father, where is the honour due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?" says the Lord Almighty. "It is you priests who show contempt for my name. But you ask, 'How have we shown contempt for your name?'”

Mrs Affenyi-Dadzie said the scripture was a wake-up call to all Ghanaians to turn to the Lord and ask for his forgiveness, “for it is our sins that have been our downfall,” quoting Hosea 14:1-2.

Prayer for the nation
She led the congregation to pray for the three arms of government: the Executive, the Legislature, and the Judiciary as well as the opposition leaders. Prayers were also said for the media, which is the Fourth Estate of the Realm, to be truthful and factual in their reports, especially in the run-up to the elections this year.

Members of the congregation, most of whom were lying prostrate or sitting on the bare floor, prayed fervently to commit all national assets to God and against any forms of disaster and terrorism.

Mrs Affenyi-Dadzie also asked the congregation to pray and prophesy against the wicked and all persons who did not want anything good for the country because of their personal interests.

Peaceful election
Concerning the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections, she pleaded that God should give the country’s leaders direction to find an amicable solution to the issue of the voters register and prayed for peace before, during and after the 2016 elections.

After the prayers, 10 pots, representing each of the regions in the country, were broken to symbolically break any evil plots against the nation.

To climax the service, there was song ministration by the Aglow Choir to which members danced to the glory of God, thanking Him for seeing them through 2015. Others also used the occasion to share their testimonies on what the Lord had done in their lives.
