NHIS staff donate blood to Korle-Bu
About 100 staff members of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the Greater Accra Region have donated blood to the National Blood Service Ghana (NABSG) to replenish stock at the Korle-Bu Blood Bank.
The initiative, which is in line with an annual corporate social responsibility of the NHIS, brought together workers of the 15 district offices of the scheme.
The voluntary donors were from the Adentan, Ashiedu Keteke, Ablekuma, Osu Klottey, Ayawaso, Tema, Ashaiman and Ga district offices, among others in Greater Accra Region.
The campaign, which is in its second year, has also taken place in the nine other regions.

At last Friday’s event in Accra, the Greater Accra Regional Director of the NHIS, Mr Lawrence Amartey, said the Service received a request from the NABSG to support it to replenish the Korle-Bu Blood Bank.
He said the staff responded positively to the request since blood was a prerequisite for life.
