Judicial Service workers threaten strike on August 27
In a statement issued yesterday, the JUSAG said agitations for the payment of the allowances began earlier in the year and culminated in an intended strike in April.
It, however, said the intended industrial action was suspended after a meeting with the Judicial Council and management.
It said the suspension of the action, all efforts to ensure that the allowances were paid had proved futile.
“Tensions are very high and it has become absolutely impossible for us to rein in our members. The current clamour is that ‘no allowances, no work’,” it said, adding that some of the allowances had been outstanding since last year.
“Notice is hereby given that if these allowances which are all well known to government and management are not paid to us unconditionally on or before Monday, August 26, 2013, all members of staff of the Judicial Service shall withdraw their services effective Tuesday, August 27, 2013,’ the statement said.
