I’m gutted by Nuamah’s death — Prez Mahama
President John Dramani Mahama has said he is gutted by the sudden death of Samuel Nuamah, the Ghanaian Times presidential correspondent, which occurred in a motor accident on Thursday, August 20, this year.
In a visibly sombre mood, the President, who signed a book of condolence opened in Nuamah’s honour at the International Press Centre in Accra last Saturday, wrote: “Samuel, I’m so gutted by your death. Six years of dedicated service with my office and it all ends in such a waste of your life. Fare thee well. Rest in peace!”
The President joined journalists, family members and other mourners at the Press Centre to mark one week of Nuamah’s passing.
Nuamah, 37, died in a motor accident after covering a presidential assignment in Ho in the Volta Region.

Among those present were some ministers of state, the Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akomea, and the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Mr Emmanuel Agyarko.
Also present were the management and staff of the New Times Corporation.
Members of the Presidential Press Corps also turned up in their numbers to mourn their departed colleague.
Some journalists could not hold back their tears.
Exaltation
Rev.Thomas Asiedu of the Teshie branch of the Baptist Church, in an exaltation, said God had a purpose for everyone and asked all who had gathered to apply themselves to that purpose while alive.
He expressed the belief that the late Nuamah led a good life and did his best according to God’s will.
He entreated Nuamah’s family and colleagues to continue to remember their departed relative and friend in prayers for the Lord to grant him eternal rest.
The family of the late journalist has, meanwhile, fixed September 17, 2015, as the burial date. It will take place in Accra but the specific location is yet to be announced.
The Ghana National Fire Service Band was on hand to provide music. It led mourners to sing hymms such as ‘Guide me O Thou Great Jehovah’, ‘When Peace Like A River’ and ‘Abide With Me.’
