Highways Authority CEO, Abbey asked to proceed on leave
Workers of the Ghana Highways Authority (GHA) Tuesday morning geared up for a peaceful demonstration following a directive for their Chief Executive, Mr Michael Abbey to proceed on leave.
The reason for the directive was not immediately known but Mr Abbey was said to have received a telephone call on Monday and asked to park his official vehicle and proceed on leave.
He was said to have obliged with the directive, parked the car and went home.
Following that, the workers on Tuesday morning hanged a red flag at the entrance of the authority and put on red arm bands to protest the said directive.
Confirming the development, the Union Chairperson, Mrs Georgina Gayhearter told Peace FM’s Kwame Sefa Kayi on live radio that the workers were gearing up to go for answers from the sector Minister.
The workers are meeting Tuesday morning about the development.
