Togbe Afede congratulates Mahama
The Agbogbomefia of Asogli, Togbe Afede XIV, has congratulated the President-elect, Mr John Dramani Mahama, over his decisive victory in the 2024 presidential election, saying the margin of the victory is testament to the confidence and trust citizens have in his vision for the nation.
A statement issued by the Asogli Palace in Ho-Bankoe reminded the President-elect that the hope of the entire nation now rested on his shoulders.
It described the victory of Mr Mahama as a verdict against dishonesty, lawlessness, divisiveness and arrogance of officialdom.
The statement said the voting pattern also pointed to the firm stance of the people against corruption, economic mismanagement, joblessness and the destruction of their lands and rivers.
“They have entrusted you with the mandate to lead a united nation towards prosperity, and we are confident you will honour this trust by working relentlessly to provide opportunity for all citizens,” it added.
The statement further said that by their votes, the people believed Mr Mahama would be a leader of all, regardless of political, ethnic or regional affiliations, and that his policies, conduct and decisions would be guided by the principle of inclusivity, equity and justice.
Accountability
The statement, however, said that being a leader of all did not preclude holding people accountable and the recovery of stolen state funds.
“We hope the lessons from the elections, and the quest of citizens for better governance, transparency and accountability will shape the agenda of your government,” it added.
The statement said the people of Asogli were happy with Mr Mahama’s intention to prioritise the pressing desires of citizens for equitable economic growth, stability, job creation and infrastructural development.
Support
The statement said by pursuing his new responsibilities with diligence and integrity, Mr Mahama would strengthen the agenda of the government and the citizens.
“As you prepare to assume your new responsibilities, we pledge our support and partnership in all initiatives that promote peace and development, and renewed hope to all.
“May your tenure be marked by wisdom, humility, honesty and the courage to take bold decisions that will leave a legacy for our nation,” said the statement.
