
ECG management assesses tidal wave impact in Volta Region
Management of the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG), Volta, has paid a visit to the scene of the devastating tidal wave disaster that impacted several communities along the coast.
They conducted an on-site visit to affected areas, including Agavedzi, Amutinu, Salakope, Fuveme, Kpokporgbor, and Agorkedzi.
Led by the Regional General Manager, Christina Jatoe-Kaleo, the team assessed the situation regarding electricity supply and the installation of infrastructure in the impacted areas.

During the visit, Ms Jatoe-Kaleo highlighted the commitment of the ECG engineers who have been conducting feasibility studies, to evaluate the necessary steps for relocating installations, ensuring that power supply can be both improved and maintained in the affected communities.

The Regional Engineer, Godfred Awuku, reported that while five electricity poles suffered damage due to the tidal waves, relocating them will necessitate the installation of a total of 12 new poles.
“This initiative is critical for reinstating reliable power access to the affected areas in the future,” he said.

Assuring the residents of a swift measure, the District Manager, Timothy Affrim, conveyed a message of hope, stating, “We are dedicated to ensuring that these communities experience uninterrupted power supply as we undertake these essential improvements.”
“The management team’s visit and commitment to improving electricity reflect the ECG's dedication to supporting impacted communities,” he said.
He added that the measures were not only aimed at improving power but also to enhance the overall resilience of the affected areas against future disasters.
