Gala in honour of Missodey

A special handball gala match will be played on Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium in honour of Emile Missodey, co-founder of handball in Ghana, who passed away a month ago.

The 62-year-old Missodey, a retired Divisional Officer of the Ghana Fire Service, and a  great handball player, together with his senior brother, Gabriel Missodey, pioneered the sport in Ghana in 1976 before it spread to other parts of the country.

Missodey will be laid in state at the Ayidiki Park at Accra Newtown on Saturday before the body is interred at the Osu Cemetery later in the day.

A special thanksgiving service will be held for the former national handball coach and administrator.

Missodey, the late Elder of the Pentecost Church, left behind a wife and four children.
